I think Cat Stevens will always be known as the Cat Stevens, I think changing his name was a bad move, he will be remembered for his first songs.
He will always be known as Cat Stevens, its what you was known as that counts and a cat has nine lives.
I also think he will always be known as Cat Stevens by Cat Stevens fans. Which makes his name change even less bad of a move. It's simply irrelevant.
I don't hate Muslims, but honestly I don't care about their religion one iota. I have no desire to listen to Muslim music, just as I have no desire to listen to Christian music. Cat Stevens wrote some pretty decent songs, though.
I personally dig certain christian music or christian themed music a lot. Partially because of the theme. But in the first place because of the tunes. I dig certain gospel, esp Johnny Cash's takes on several comes to mind, and rasta reggae. I also love certain anti christian music, especially black metal. I appreciate Cat Stevens music mostly because I dig folk and folk rock. I appreciate the guy before and after his namechange because he does his own thing.
Not really, I dislike the majority of gospel. And also the majority of metal, and even most of the black metal subgenre in particular. I'm just adding my thoughts in response to yours about religion themed music and Cat Stevens in particular.
