I just read that if you want raccoon bait, that cats will leave alone, you should use marshmallows. Oh, boy.
Reading all these comments, I am just so glad that abandoned cats are not a real problem here in London. Our son found an abandoned kitten on his way out one cold wet evening and kept him in his coat pocket for the rest of his night out. At first we were worried about how he would get along with our dog, but within a few days they were sleeping in the same basket. He died a few weeks ago, after 17 years with us, but has left us with his son, who we were given after he had stalked our neighbors cat about 5 years ago.
I don't quite know how you manage it, but between looking after all your cats, yourself, fellow staff members and the volunteer moderators seem to have kept this about the most troll and idiot free site on the internet. Regards, Wills.
Meezie has, at least, two little black kittens on the back porch that were born in November. I've never known any of these cats to give birth in November. Usually August is the latest.
Ty.....Have you Still Got That Stray Cat That Arrived On Your Doorstep A Few Months Back.??. Cheers Glen.
How Does She Get On With A Crow...??.......I Remember You Saying Ages Ago That Whilst Ever Your Old Cat Was Alive You Would Not Adopt Another........Looks Like Another Adopted You...... Cheers Glen.
One of the kittens born in April was a runt so we brought it inside. His name is Percy. He's still a little guy. He started vomiting a few days ago and eventually was vomiting nothing but pink foam. He laid near me and I thought to start giving him some karo/water because he'd surely be dehydrated. I got the mixture prepared and drawn up into an eye dropper. When picked him up from laying his side, I was shocked. I had noticed that his breathing was fast and shallow but when I got him in my arms, his tongue was hanging out of the side of his mouth. I think he was going down for the count. He got better after several times of giving him the karo/water. He was still vomiting the water he drank yesterday so I started him on an antibiotic leftover from Bane's Copperhead bite. I've only dosed him twice but so far no more vomiting.
Hope your little one comes around, it is always distressing to see an animal in such shape. Thank you for taking care of the critter!
BTW I am still feeding the stray stripey cat that appears every morning for a bowl of food. Must admit I think he's scamming the neighborhood as he's gotten a bit fat... but then again it is perhaps just a fine winter coat, all fluffy for the winter. I believe he lives outdoors 24/7/365. But he talks to me every day and says thank you in his own way.
Spooky will not be here much longer... He's old, frail, and having a lot of issues. Like many cats that get this way he just keeps hanging on long past the time other animals would have already passed. Erin's kitty, ZaKitteth, is doing good... Keeps going in and out of heat though. I'll have to do something about that... soonish. Erin is good too, when she's not being a brat. Hope Percy does okay.
Thanks. I've got a sister of Percy's, Sweetie Pie, that keeps going in and out of heat; she just escaped outside. Luckily, she hasn't been in heat. She'll come back in after dark. Poor old Spooky. I hope he passes peacefully when he decides it's time.
