I've spent $10.00 total. The new soil is soil I had left over in a pot on my balcony. Not sure of the pot size, but it is pretty big. Maybe too big? I'll post a picture.
Big pots are ok, just don't soak it all the time or the roots will rot. I recommend for the record to get ride of it, I don't know where you live. You can try to keep it in veg or just let it do whatever. Obviously your not going for a record sized head stash. You could also veg her and take cuttings to flower out. That's generally a way to have your cake and eat it too!
That pot is fine. Don't feed her for awhile or she will burn. Neptunes fish and seaweed is good for veg. You might want to have an idea what the ph of your nutrients and soil and water are. I've seen more newbs burn shit than they have an idea how.
Well, thanks for the help. Kind of overwhelming, but I DO have somewhat of a natural green thumb when it comes to my house plants, so I am going to mostly rely on instincts here, I guess. I was also recommended to get some 20/20/20 plant food, so I will do that this weekend.
If I was you I would just use this as a hobby plant and learn from it Wouldn't go out of the way with ferts and lightning
Are these lights really that expensive or run up your power bill? Just out of curiosity. We have a full spectrum uva/uvb light for my bearded dragon. Would this type of light work? I wouldnt mind getting a little plant. I havent noticed a difference in our power bill running the beardies multiple heat/full spectrum/night lights 24 hours a day - thats why i asked if the lights you're referring to run up the bill.
There is a huge difference running 200watts 18 or 12 hours a day verses running 1,000 watts or more on those schedules. There is also a quantum difference in yield and somewhat quality, i.e. density, and all the bag appeal stuff. I ran a 250 which is very small, in fact the smallest HID and hard to find. It was maybe $25 a month.
for a small indoor grow, LED lights are the way to go. Low energy consumption, very low heat generation and the retain full spectrum for average of 30,000 - 50,0000 hours. All other types need to be replaced at least every 9-12 months. Prices range from ~$25 to over $1000. https://www.amazon.com/s/ref=nb_sb_ss_i_1_8?url=search-alias%3Daps&field-keywords=led+grow+lights+for+marijuana&sprefix=LED+grow%2Caps%2C198
Okay, my apartment is south facing and 95% of the natural light that comes into my place, comes from the south.
So just as I was leaving for the gym, I noticed dozens of tiny bugs crawling around Murphy Brown's soil and pot. The soil I had used for her home has been on my balcony for over a year, and I guess some bugs took up residence in it. I took her out of the soil right away, and left her on a plate for an hour. On the way home from the gym, i bought some proper potting soil from the market. They didn't have 20/20/20, though, only 25/11/14. Anyways, I am now really worried that she has gone into shock and, as a result, will not be able to adapt to her new home. Fingers crossed this is not the case.
high nitrogen is fine when vegging .. you can follow direction and use it half strength .. most potting soil fresh out the bag will last weeks with average watering. some these guys are making it more complicated than it is..
