    Hi Everyone,

Has anyone in this forum taken a moment to reflect on their highlights of going barefoot in 2006? I had two that I am most proud of. First, the day I went to the local General Cinema barefoot and made it past the ticket seller and taker barefoot. :)

The seond occasion had to be the day I drove all the way to work barefoot only to realize I left my footwear at home :leaving: Needless to say, I had no choice but to turn the car around and go back for my shoes :&

Does anyone have any barefoot resolutions for 2007?

I hope to make it a continuing practice to attend the movies barefoot. Also, I wouldn't mind braving a few summer nights out on the town minus footwear :$

Here's hoping everyones barefoot resolutions come true in 2007.

Every time I go into a store and avoid getting harrassed about being barefoot -- that's a highlight. As far as resolutions go, I hope I go barefoot a lot more next summer than I did last summer.

My outdoor lifestyle, both with work and play, will continue barefoot except when we have the normal strong Maine cold winter weather, which really still hasn't started yet, for pity sake! So far, flops or sandals have got me thru the bits of winter we've had. I don't expect much to change in 2007, as I have been at this level of barefootedness for several years, and freer than most for all of my life. My free times in public are a plus for me. But unlike most on this forum, I'm not into the black soles look, for it's own sake. There may be some floors that are not clean enough to suit ME. Most tiles floors, yes. Some restrooms, no. Some oily sidewalks, no. I'm bare more than most, but I'm big on clean. Lucky for me I get to rinse almost any time I want. In 2007 I would like to see further inroads made onto those damn control freaks in some stores. The more they can be worn down the better. It's gotta happen sometime. I plan on living a very long time, but I'd like to see the relaxation in this while I'm still (barely young enough) to be seen in public the way I am now!

    Happy New Year, All---

When I was in the airport in Louisville,KY I had to take my hiking boots off to get thru security. Afterwards I said to hell with putting them back on & walked all around the airport & got on the plane with them in my hand. I had to change planes in Ohio before arriving in Tampa,FL. ..and yes I got off the plane in FL and was still carrying them in my hands.
I orginally had them on because the hiking boots don't fit in my backpack so good.

Well I had several wonderful barefooting experiences this year.
    1. I was on vacation from work for the week of December 7 - December 14. I did not wear shoes for 7 days. I ran my errands & went to the gym 4 times during the week without shoes. My yoga class was my only workout that week. I received "the comments" about my bare feet but who cares.
    2. Each time I enter a commercial establishment and do not encounter the shoe police I feel wonderful.
    3. I went into book stores, bars, restaurants, public restrooms, went on a short excursion and flew across the country barefoot, yeah.:sunny:

I bow to you President Boogabaah, no shoes since August.:applause:

not many highlights from 06 seeing as i'm pretty new to the barefoot lifestyle, but a couple weeks ago i did go through the entire first half of school without shoes, so a resolution for next year will be to go an entire day at school without my shoes. eventually, i want to be confident enough to not even bring shoes with me to carry just in case. i want to be totally free. :) good luck to everyone on their barefoot resolutions!

oh! and FINALLY being able to run the entire length of our gravel driveway just like my mom! (she's my barefoot mentor ^_^)

    Hmmm,,, where to begin.

Highlights: I took 23 business trips last year for a total of 88,000+ miles. This means I was on 75 airplanes, in 75+ airports, and many airport shuttles all barefoot. I ate at TGI Fridays in Atlanta, Subway in Cinci, and countless other small airport eateries all bf. 23 different rental cars bf. Checked in and out of every hotel bf. All of this without one negative word from anyone. I carry a small backpack on the plane that contains my Bose NC headset, my Ipod, and my flops in case I need to put them on. They don't get used much at all. I'm currently in Winnipeg Manitoba. It's a brisk 27F. I did put shoes on AFTER I got my rental car. But I did fly bf and went thru Customs bf. A lady in line at the Customs area asked if I had socks. She said she saw snow outside and said I might get cold.

My favorite airport is PDX, Portland, OR. It is very open and not very busy. It's carpeted all over, even in the tunnel leading to the parking garage. My least fav is OHare in Chicago. Tile floors and very dirty. Atlanta's airport was renovated last year and they removed the carpet in favor of ceramic tile. The tile is shiny and very slick when wet. I almost kissed the floor with my ass a couple of times. It was cool to walk on the concrete before they tiled over it. Now you can feel each uneven tile since the edges are sharp. Minneapolis's restrooms are heated with radiant floor heating. This is very nice to walk on. I took 2 red eye flights, one from Salt Lake City and the other from Portland. I was at the airport for over 3 hours each time. I wandered all over each airport. My pedometer said I covered 2 miles in Portland's airport before I boarded.

Fav moments: Hiking 34 miles on the side of a mountain bf. I did stub my small toe and took the skin off the end of it. I ended up hiking 50+ miles last year, not counting all the roaming around I did on my neighbors farm.

I went to 3 antique malls with my wife. I was bf of course. Not a word said by anyone.

'07 Res. Hmmm,,, keep doing what I've been doing.

    Hello, everybody!

Well, going barefoot is something I love to do, although I am somewhat shy about it. (Sometimes I thínk I have kind of a "reputation" to think of... Or is that ridiculous??)

The last year's highlights certainly were at a gas station with some very interested (and friendly) looks -- and then, the one time I went to the library and returned a book: I walked barefoot from my car, all the way (and it's a little distance) to the library, talked to the librarian, returned the book I had borrowed, and back to my car. Possibly, it's not a big thing, but to me, it was!

Next year's resolutions? As I have become more and more "courageous" during the last few years, simply go on with that... (So I'll have some more interesting things to post at the beginning of next year!) :)

    Love,
    e.

@enlightenment ... hey man thats great and it is a big thing to barefooters everywhere, congrats and keep going barefoot.

I really didn't have any highlights, so to speak, for 2006 by that nothing out of the ordinary. As always, I went to the Texas Renaissance Festival barefoot, probably one of the collest places to barefoot.

numerous establishments; gas stations, restaurants, banks, post office and movie places.

for '07, more of the same; going barefoot as much as possible and not taking crap off shoe Nazi's

    peace,
    bob

You are a fearless role model for barefooters everywhere. My previous experience going unshod at the airport was at Logan Airport in Boston. Unlike yourself, my barefooting that day was limited to the baggage carousel. Fortunately, my soles did get a little black for my effort.

I would think the dirty floors at Chicago's airport would appear to a fellow barefooter like yourself. I hate when I choose to make the decision to go barefoot and I don't have dirty soles to show for my effort.

How did you find the motivation to hike up a mountain barefoot? I do the odd hike on rugged terrain and I find it leaves the skin under my soles dry afterwords. Then again, wearing a pair of Teva's tends to have the same affect on me.

You have also motivated me to purchase a pedometer so I can get some kind of idea how far I'm marching barefoot. Have you had any other injuries besides stubbing your toe on the rock? I tend to be a good canidate for stubbing my toe on the pavement under my soles, which usually results in instant bloodshed.

I live next to a state park in North Central North Carolina. This mountain has wonderful trails, most are fairly smooth with a few rocks. But the trail I took was very steep and covered in larger rocks to boulders. I felt it when I stubbed my toe, but didn't know what damage occurred until I took a shower that night and my toe stung like hell. That's when I saw the skin peeled back. It's amazing what the dirt will do to stop the bleeding and pain.

One thing about barefooting airports. Since we are all pretty much captive, there isn't much anyone can do but stare. Unlike at a store outside the airport when its a different domain. I've tried to bf Lowes and Staples and some others, but eventually get asked to put some footware on.

I've been barefoot in 13 different airports. Other than some stares, never had a problem in any of them. And I've flown on 21 different airlines, all barefoot. Speaking of O'Hare, I had to spend the night there one time - barefoot of course. Not a very pleasant experience. But the unpleasantness had nothing to do with my bare feet, at least my feet were comfortable.

I go to Lowe's as well as Staples quite often. Never had a problem being barefoot in either, nor Home Depot nor practically any other store. Although one time at Lowe's some employee passing by said I should have on shoes because I "might step on something." I just told him not to worry about it and went on with my shopping. He saw I wasn't having any of his crap so he just walked away. That was the one and only time, and nothing like that has happened since.

my only highlight of 2006 was when i decided to walk through school one day without shoes. it was great. but it wasn't a really big deal to me. i just didn't feel like wearing shoes.

we seem to get to in get into a bunch of un necessary trouble for not wearing shoes.

i'd like be barefoot more this year. thats my only resolution. more hiking.

    Highlights:

I was able to be barefoot almost all the time (except at work). I was also barefoot at school for as long as the weather permited. I did have some strange looks, but I just didn't care. My friends were very supportive, and a lot of people came to me, wanting to know better about barefooting. Even my teachers were cool with it! Also, for my communication/expression class, I did an oral presentation on barefooting, and people in my class enjoyed it and thought it was cool.

But my biggest highlight has to be in my gym class, in colllege. There's the usual footwear rule, but I asked the teacher to be barefoot and told him I wouldn't hold him (or the school) responsible if something happened. He agreed and I was all he talked about in his other classes!

    Resolution:

My first resolution is to keep going that way, of course. The other one, is to get married and go to my graduation party (same day-small wedding and grad. party after) barefoot. Unfortunately, the wedding dress I picked is really long, so it won't show that I'm barefoot, but I intend to have a pic taken where I'll lift my dress to show my feet. Girlfriend/family are very supportive, even if they think I'm a little excentric. My cousin (12 yo) wants to go barefoot as well. It's gonna be really cool.

Oh, and I want to take more pics of my dirty soles to send to my barefoot friend in Italy.
