I have a heavy Boston accent so yeah, my accent gets pointed out everywhere I go. But I don’t hear it. I can hear my “R’s” even though nobody else can. My sister and I both moved to CA (we married into the same family). We’ve been told our accents get worse when we’re together, and downright brutal when we drink. That comes from all our in-laws.....with their heavy Spanish accents LOL.
German accents are scary af. There's a guy who works in the warehouse who is from Biloxi, MS. I understand maybe half of what he's getting at. He's also kind of crazy.
Crazy is Mississippi's biggest export, isn't it? To be honest I don't think I've ever met anyone from there.
A tornado struck in my hometown about 2 years ago. Here is some local news coverage of the aftermath. It gives a fairly good example of how people sound around here. P.S. LOL
I love foreign accents and even the different accents throughout the United States. I especially like Minnesota accent. Whenever I meet someone with any type of accent, I looove listening to them talk. I met a woman at a bookstore from Mississippi and told her I liked her accent and she laughed. We had a good conversation. I do have some sort of accent,it seems but not even sure why or what it is. I have travelled around so maybe I picked up a couple of accents. When I've been sitting alone though, and quiet,I've had strangers come up to me and ask if I'm from France. I need to pick up a French accent.
Just as an aside I'm reading a book about words and it turns out that the word "Neb" is one of the oldest in the English language, but it's use is mostly confined to Pennsylvania, around Pittsburgh. It's used as a verb. To neb into someone's business or to be nebby. Nebby 1. Used Mainly in The Pittsburgh Area. To be Nosy, snoopy, inquisitive, annoying. (Aka Neb-Shitting, Neb-Shit,Neb-Nose) 1. Bobby-jo quit bein so nebby and get me a pop. 2. Amanda quit Neb-shittin around and grab one of dem der Ahrn City Beers.
And Notre Dame, they say it No-ter day-m I say No-tra darm Lol I'm probably wrong. I don't do French.
