Ugh--milk solids, water, and thickening agents. And the grossest shit I've ever tasted. Unnaturally sweet and salty. I'm pretty sure it's what dog milk would taste like if it were bottled.

I can't go into the dairy aisle at the market and pass by the fat free half and half without thinking the same thing ... WTF is that stuff? I drink my coffee black and my tea iced ... never use half and half except when making a creme anglaise (very rich vanilla pudding made with egg yolks, cream, flour, butter, and vanilla extract) for either trifle or banana pudding. I tried using the fat free stuff and it was gross. There are just some times when one must choose between making the tastebuds happy or the arteries.

I think it has something to do with taking food items like nuts, which are generally "good fats" and removing the some or all of the additional oil left inside the nuts, causing them to be called partially of fully defatted fat.
