    1 John 3:10

By this the children of God and the children of the devil are obvious: anyone who does not practice righteousness is not of God, nor the one who does not love his brother.

Yeah and you have decided that joining an army can in no way be a righteous practice. That is the subjective part. I think you know that too. Thanks for playing though.

“Return evil for evil to no one. Provide fine things in the sight of all men.”—ROMANS 12:17.

You're not really saying anything new or meaningful by quoting that. What is righteous and evil is not absolute. Sometimes it seems it is because a big majority of people agree on the same thing but it isn't. I know I am repeating myself too now ;)

Great points. The whole thing was obviously not ment to be read as a lawbook. It is portrayed like that centuries after Jesus (when most people still couldn't read. Which has caused many abuse and manipulation from those who could)

Good point you are touching on here. I think in most forms of christianity this all stands or falls with the sincere remorse of the culprit. If you don't have regret you don't get forgiveness either.

I for one am not offended at all here, but I strongly disagree. To me it seems you are confusing religion with people. People are hypocritical and yeah, they can forge a hypocritical religion too of course. But at first it is people. Same with the biggest cause of war: its people :p
A political system can indeed be hypocritical too, but why and how did it become such a system? People! People are bullies, they can bully with politics and religion, making both look like they're retarded instruments. But they are not always or by definition.

The Encyclopedia of Religion and War states: “The earliest followers of Jesus rejected war and military service,” recognizing those practices as “incompatible with the love ethic of Jesus and the injunction to love one’s enemies.” Likewise, German theologian Peter Meinhold said of those early disciples of Jesus: “Being a Christian and a soldier was considered irreconcilable.”

Do we have a recording of all of them stating that.

And even if so. They were probly monks not run of the mill followers.

No recording but we do have Jesus words. At Luke 6:27 Jesus says: but I say to you who are listening, continue to love your enemies, to do good to those hating you, to bless those cursing you, to pray for those who are insulting you. To him who strikes you on the one cheek, offer the other also.

Sounds like suicide if those who strike you don't stop.

Jesus said in Matthew, do not become fearful of those who kill the body but cannot kill the soul, rather, fear him who can destroy both soul and body in Gehenna.

You do that and (act like you) just fear the boogeyman. We just give in to our defense reflexes when a dubious person wants to kill us. Seems everybody's content then in the end.

He's not a legit JW either. He's displayed an even worse representation than the one they already have earned themselves by reputation, ever since he pretended to be one on here. Pretty nasty and dubious.

Which translation do you want of this scripture?
It says the same. Here is the NIV

27 “But to you who are listening I say: Love your enemies, do good to those who hate you, 28 bless those who curse you, pray for those who mistreat you. 29 If someone slaps you on one cheek, turn to them the other also

If only you had something real to add. I know it's terrible that I believe that men or women should not go and kill people for nationalistic reasons. You attack the messanger and not the message. The bible is clear. You disregard Christ's message of love

I don't find your (supposed) beliefs terrible at all, typical of you to try to portray it like that. I also wouldn't encourage anyone to join an army :-D

I am just like most people here disagreeing with your religious principle, which you can have just fine. But if you gonna try to put it as the only valid way of seeing things on a free speech public forum (something an actual JW doesn't do anyway) you just will be set straight. I have adressed the message more than that I attacked the messenger.
