last night's fun

I've been in the city for a few days working and meeting up with city friends at the same time. Last night I met a ole buddy for dinner, he needed to stop at the ATM to get some cash. So I'm chatting away while he gets his money out of a walk up machine. We turn around and there in front of us is a crack-head holding a little pocket knife saying "Give me the money". I look at my friend and he says Fuck You. The stupid kid looks shocked so that's when I punch him in the face, dumb ass drops his knife just as my buddy hits him again. This knocks him down and my friend spits on him and picks up his knife and we go get dinner.

 

I feel bad for the crack head.

Only that it may have been numbers, not size that made the difference. Perhaps the community of the two emboldened their response. Had it been mano a mano perhaps the result may have been different.

The little loser would not have been a problem one on one. What's kinda funny is I just gave a dollar to a kid bumming a few blocks earlier.

 

I am not complaining about anyone's moral compass, only your conclusion about what would have been wiser for him. I don't think it wise to pick on anyone in this vain. His actions were not inspired of wisdom but of desperation. The desperate are not in command of anything and are fundamentally disadvantaged. It is no measure of greatness to overcome the weak.
