i've already seen several stores that have 2 prices for all items, a price for those paying with cash and a slightly elevated price for those paying with card.

that shits pretty annoying man, if they didn't have a clear sign then that's some BS....

This makes sense... on the flip side- maybe the thinking is that no cash involved makes for a more efficient transaction... turning over an increased number of accurate sales during busy times when cashiers are more likely to make mistakes.. without the step of taking cash and making change, long lines move faster and the net result is actually more money.

I see that from time to time with gas- but it is not used consistently even at the same gas stations. More often than not it remains the same price.

Yes... and that's a big if... because if it was clear that the line was for credit/debit transactions only then I'd have to say that the OP kinda created a bit of a scene unnecessarily.

 

i've never heard of a credit only line. this is nonsense.

if that's the thinking, it must have been thought up by someone who has never worked as a cashier. credit cards take twice as long as cash, and are at least as easy to screw up (and the screw-ups are likely to be bigger, if you accidentally add a digit to the charge that's a lot worse than accidentally giving someone an extra dollar in change).

 

My experience with the work place suggests that most "improvements" to job function are thought up by number crunchers and not by people who actually do the work.

Using credit and debit cards give the consumer more power to mindlessly spend and gives more interest/profits to the companies handling all aspects of the transactions. Credit and debit cards also make all transactions in the system accounted for easier. But I feel that it mostly to allow customers to over spend and get caught up in financial troubles with late fees, transaction fees, the payments back, etc.
Another thing that scares me is the government stimulus programs on the radio about getting a card to buy groceries so the government can conduct studies.... I personally feel this is a sign of the government realizing our over zealous production and waste of products.

No i dont care for materialistic things its just im caught in the system like everyone else, and kinda need money to survive. I could move to the mountains build a cabin and mind my own business, but would probably get arrested for poaching the deer and fish I would eat. They have made it truly impossible to be live without money while following the rules.
